Abstract

This research conducted to measure the effect of the implementation of Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) on students’ reading comprehension preciselyinrecount text ability. Thisresearchconductedused quantitative method with experimental design. The participant of this research consist of two classes (control class and experimental class) of IX grade SMP N 1 Angkola Barat that contains 55 students. The sample collected using total sampling technique. The data of this research gathered using reading comprehension test. The result of T-test result showedand indicates that T-count > T-table (12.992 > 2.005) and the significance value (2-tailed) < 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05).This means that there is a statistically significant difference in the reading recount text ability of students who were taught using the Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) method compared to those who were taught using the conventional method.
