The data were collected through pre-test and post-test in oral speaking and analyzed by using t-test formula. The result of research shows that the mean score of experimental class was higher than experimental class in pre-test after using storytelling. The mean score of experimental class in pre-test was 55.83 and the mean score of experimental class in post-test was 77.3. In addition, after doing t-test, the researcher found that t count > t table (13.46 > 2.00). Therefore, alternative hypothesis (Ha) of this research was accepted and hypothesis (H0) was rejected. It can be concluded that there was significant effect of storytelling on students’ speaking ability at grade X SMA N 1 Angkola Selatan (Tapsel).
