Abstract
This research described about students’ problems in writing recount text. It was solved by choosing an appropriate strategy that is Transition-Action-Details (TAD) strategy. The problems of students’ in writing recount text were: (1) difficult in understanding the generic structure and language features (2) difficult in understanding the structure and grammar (3) teacher used inappropriate strategy (4) difficult to connect one idea to another idea. The purpose of this research is to know whether there is the effect of Transition-Action-Details (TAD) strategy on students’ writing recount text mastery at grade X SMA N 6 Padangsidimpuan. The method that is used in this research was experimental research. Two classes were chosen randomly as the sample. They were X MIPA 2 as experimental class that consisted of 29 students and X MIPA 3 as control class that consisted of 30 students. It was conducting normality and homogeneity test. The data was derived from pre-test and post-test. To analyze the data the researcher used t-test formula. After analyzing the data, the researcher found that the mean score of experimental class after using Transition-Action-Details (TAD) strategy was higher than control class. Mean score of control class in Pre-test was 53.70 and the mean score of control class in Post-test was 60.7, the proof was 7. Mean score of experimental class before using Transition-Action-Details (TAD) strategy was 50.83 and mean score after using Transition-Action-Details (TAD) strategy was 68.4, the proof was 17.57. The effect of Transition-Action-Details (TAD) strategy on students’ writing recount text mastery at grade X SMA N 6 Padangsidimpuan was with tcount was higher than ttable ( > 2.021) it meant that Ha was accepted and H0 was rejected. There was the effect of Transition-Action-Details (TAD) strategy on students’ writing recount text mastery at grade X students of SMA N 6 Padangsidimpuan.
