Abstract

The aims of this study were to know the students' speaking accuracy before and after using Repetition Drill and to know whether there is or there is no any significant effect of Repetition Drill toward Speaking Accuracy at the second grade MAN 2 Model Padangsidimpuan. The research is quantitative research with experimental method using pre-test post-test control group design. The instrument of this research is speaking test (pre-test and post-test). The population of this research is all the second grade students of MAN 2 Model Padangsidimpuan consisted of 504 students. The sample of this research is XI IPA-2 (24 students) as experimental class and VIII IPA -3 (25 students) as control class. Thus, total sample of this research were 49 students. After using repetition drill, it is found that the mean score of post-experimental class is higher than control class (8.29 > 7.27). Based on the hypothesis test, it is found that sig (2-tailed) < 0.05 or 0.00 < 0.05. So, it is concluded that there is a significant effect of repetition drill toward the speaking accuracy at the eleven grade students MAN 2 Model Padangsidimpuan. The novelty of this research is in the location of the research, in previous findings the research was conducted at junior high school level, whereas in this research it was conducted at senior high school so the effect was more effective.
