Abstract

Perception is the process of receiving data from senses then it process in brain and will be instructed to body. This study aims to determine the perception of male students towards English in Ma'had Aljamiah Uin Syahada. Researchers want to know how students' perceptions of English learning at Ma'had Aljamiah State Islamic University Sheikh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Padangsidimpuan. This research has a problem formulation, namely how the perception of male students towards English learning at Ma'had Aljamiah UIN SYAHADA Padangsidempuan. This study aims to determine the perception of Ma'had Aljamiah students, Sheikh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary State Islamic University, Padangsidimpuan. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques use questionnaires and interviews as research instruments. The subjects in this study were the population of all male students of Ma'had Aljamiah with a total of 373 people. The sample was 32 male students. Data analysis is divided into two. Namely qualitative questionnaire and interview analysis. The results showed that the perception of male students towards English language development in Mahad Aljmiah State Islamic University Sheikh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Padangsidimpuan showed that male students agreed with the language program in Mahad Aljamiah for two semesters, they got a positive effect after following the language program about their knowledge of English. The results of the interview showed that the answers from respondents around 80% answered in agreement with the statement given. The same thing happened to the interview results, more than 85% of male students answered in the affirmative and gave a positive response with questions in the interview session.
