Abstract

This research talked about students’ ability of TBI-1 sixth semester of English Department Tarbiyah Faculty IAIN Padangsidimpuan in writing recount text. The problems in this research focused on the students ability in writing recount text of TBI-1 sixth semester of English Department Tarbiyah Faculty IAIN Padangsidimpuan. The purpose of this research was to know the ability at students of TBI-1 sixth semester of English Department Tarbiyah Faculty IAIN Padangsidimpuan in writing recount text. To find how far they understand about recount text, also to see their difficulties in writing recount text. The result students got difficulties in changing V1 to V2. This research used descriptive quantitative. Descriptive quantitative was used to explain the students‟ ability in writing recount text. The population of this research were 24 students of TBI-1 class in English Department Tarbiyah Faculty IAIN Padangsidimpuan. This research used test as the instrument in this research. This research used total sampling to take the sample, so the participants were 24 students. Based on the result of the research, this study got the description of the data and found that the mean score was 63,54. It means that the ability of the sixth semester of English Departrment was categorized into enough.
