Abstract

The aim of this research was to compare the result of using pictures media and flash cards media in teaching vocabulary at SD Negeri 200508 Padangsidimpuan. This research was conducted by quantitative method and the type of the research was comparative research. The populations of this research were the grade IV students that consist of 55 students. The researcher taked the samples of this research for whole the population as the sample, they are 55 students and the technique of taking the sample is population sample. Then, the total numbers of sample divided into two class; they were class IVA consists of 27 students by using pictures media and class IVB consist of 28 students by using flash cards media. To collect the data, in conducting by the instrument of research that contained of vocabulary test. In testing the hypothesis and analyzed the data of the research, it analyzed with a formula. In this analysis, the researcher used the formula of T-test. t0 = Based on the calculation above, it can be known that the coefficient of t0 = 2,45. It is compared with the score of tt on degree of freedom (df) 55 in significant of 5 % is 2,01. So, the score of t0 is greater than the score of tt namely 2,45> 2,01. Dealing with calculation, it can be concluded that the hypothesis is rejected. Because, the result of teaching vocabulary by using pictures media is better than flash cards media at grade IV of SD Negeri 200508 Padangsidimpuan in 2011-2012 academic year.
