Abstract
The aim of this research was to know the students’ ability of the fourth semester of TBI IAIN Padangsidimpuanin writing descriptive text. The problem of this research was the ability of fourth semester of TBI IAIN Padangsidimpuan in writing descriptive text. Many of students got C mark in examination result. It was interested to be researched by the writer, whether their ability was low or not. The research was done in IAIN Padangsidimpuan. The method would be used in this research was quantitative research. It is an analysis research, here the researcher observes one variable and type of the research was descriptive method.The sources of data was the students in fourth semester of TBI IAIN Padangsidimpuan. The kind was quantitative research. After analyzing and calculating the result of the data, it can be concluded that The students’ ability in writing descriptive text at fourth semester of TBI IAIN Padangsidimpuanis not low, because the means score is 67.04. Although some students got low mark, but most of them still got good mark. Most of them got problematic in constructing a good sentence by rich vocabulary. It can be solved by habituating to open book and dictionary
