Abstract

This research was taken based on the fact of the students’ problems in mastering adjective and writing descriptive text. The researcher identified many problems that there were many factors influence writing descriptive text mastery such as vocabulary, grammatical, Punctuation, spelling, and adjective. Finally, the researcher interested to research the correlation between adjective mastery and writing descriptive text mastery to the VII grade students of SMP N 11 Padangsidimpuan. In this research, the researcher wanted to find out about how significant the correlation between adjective mastery and writing descriptive mastery. The population of this research was all the seventh grade students of SMP N 11 Padangsidimpuan. This school consists of three classes which consist of 70 students. The sample of this research was 70 students taken by using total sampling technique. Further, the instrument of this research used for collecting the data was by giving tests to the sample in multiple choice form essay form. From the result of the data analysis, it was found that rxy was 0.393 while ttable was 0.235. It means that rcount > rtable (0.393>0.235) which means the hypothesis was accepted. However, it means there was a significant correlation between adjective mastery and writing descriptive text mastery to the seventh grade students of SMP N 11 Padangsidimpuan.
