Abstract
The background of this research problem is the difficulty of students in solving problems in cubes and blocks of matter and the students are less active in learning that mathematics learning outcomes in terms of the cognitive aspects of the students is still low. The problems in this study is whether there is significant influence cooperative learning model of Group Investigation on cognitive abilities of students on the material cubes and blocks of class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Angkola West. From the formulation of the problem which is the goal of this research was to determine whether there was a significant effect of cooperative learning model of Group Investigation on cognitive abilities of students on the material cubes and blocks of class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Angkola Barat.Salah the efforts made to improve the ability kogntif math students is to use cooperative learning model type Group Investigation. Group Investigation learning model is a model of learning that requires students active in learning assigning students to find or cultivate their own materials on each group. The method used in this study is an experimental method using classical experimental design experimental design. The population in this study is a whole class VIII totaling 135 students. While the sample is taken, namely, VIIIB classes totaling 28 students as an experimental class and class VIIIC with the number of 26 students as a control class with a sampling technique is purposive sampling. The instruments used in data collection in this study is a form of multiple-choice test (multiple choice). As for the management and analysis of data is a chi-squared formula, equality test of variance, t-test. Based on the research results of the data analysis, the researchers concluded that there is significant influence implementation of learning model of Group Investigation on cognitive abilities of students on the material cubes and blocks in class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Angkola West. It is shown from the average value of the experimental class is better than the average value of the control class that is 80.8 better than 75.1, and the results of hypothesis test showed t = 8.19> table = 2.00, meaning that average -rata learning outcomes aspects of cognitive abilities of students on the material cubes and blocks using Group Investigation learning model is better than the average results of the cognitive aspects of learning abilities of students who do not use the GroupInvestigation.
