Abstract

This research discussed about the students’ reading comprehension at third semester of English Department UIN Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Padangsidimpuan. The formulation of the problem in this research were, how is the students’ reading comprehension at third semester of English Department UIN Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Padangsidimpuan? The purpose of this research is to know the students’ reading comprehension at third semester of English Department UIN Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Padangsidimpuan. The kinds of this research was quantitative research with descriptive method. The sample were 64 students from 2 classes. In this research, the researcher used test as the instrument. The test is multiple choice for reading narrative text. The indicators of reading test are, able to find the topic of text, able to identify main idea of text, able to find information needed from text, able to give conclusion the text, able to identify reference meaning from the text, and able to build vocabulary. The data was calculated by using mean score. After analyzing the data, the researcher found that mean score was 65.2. The result of this research showed the students’ reading comprehension at third semester of English Department UIN Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Padangsidimpuan in enough category.
