Abstract

This study focuses on the effect of boggle game on students' vocabulary mastery. The problems faced by the students in vocabulary mastery are: 1). The students have limited vocabulary. 2). The students do not understand the meaning. The purpose of this study is to test whether there is or not the significant effect of using boggle game method on students’ vocabulary mastery of Grade X SMAN 1 Sayurmatinggi. This study uses a pre-test post-test control group design. Data are collected through pre-test and post-test in the form of multiple choice tests and analyzed using an independent sample T-test with the assistance of SPSS version 26 software. The result of this study show that the mean score of the experimental group is higher than the mean score of the control group after implementing the Boggle game. The mean score of the experimental group after implementing the Boggle game is 85.52 and the mean score of the control group is 70.69. In addition, tcount>ttabel (7.465 > 2.003), which means that Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. Thus, this study concludes that there is a significant effect of using the Boggle game on students' vocabulary mastery at grade X SMAN 1 Sayurmatinggi.
