Abstract

This research discussed about the effect of Team Game Tournament Technique to Degree of Comparison Mastery at the IX grade of Mts students of Pondok Pesantren Darussalam Parmeraan .There are some difficulties or problems on students’ Degree of Comparison Mastery such as: 1)Most of the students have difficulty in understanding Degree of Comparison. 2) Most of the students have not been able to make the example of Degree of Comparison. 3) Most of the students have not been able to identify the difference betwen example of Degree of Comparison. 4) There is need in a learning technique that can improve students’ ability in Degree of Comparison. The purposes of this research were to know the students’ Degree of Comparison mastery before and after learning by using Team Game Tournament (TGT) technique and to examine the significant effect of using Team Game Tournament (TGT) technique on students’ Degree of Comparison mastery. This research has quantitative with experimental technique with pretest-posttest control group design. The population were all of the students in the IX grade. The samples were taken by total sampling technique where class IX A (40 students) as experimental class and IX B (40 students) as control class. The data were collected through pre-test and post-test and analyzed by using T-test formula. The result of this research showed that the mean score of experimental class was higher than the mean score of control class after learning by using Team Game Tournament Technique. In addition, after doing T-test, this study found that tcount > ttable with score 11.601 > 1.67. Therefore, alternative hypothesis (Ha) of this study was accepted. It can be concluded that there was significant effect of using Team Game Tournament to Degree of Comparison mastery at the IX Grade Pondok Pesantren Darussalam Parmeraan.
