Abstract
This research focus about the effect of Critical Reading Strategies on Reading Report Text at Grade XI SMAN 1 Siabu. The problems of this research were many students in class still did not reach the target of Minimum Mastery Criterion (KKM) it was 75 score. Students reading comprehension especially reading report text does not fulfill to get comprehension since they were done have any chance to share information while reading activity. The purpose of this research was to examine the effect of Critical Reading on Reading Report Text. This research employed Experimental research. The population of this research was the eleventh grade IPA SMAN 1 Siabu. The total of population were three classes. Then, the sample of the research were two classes experimental class (XI IPA 3) and control class (XI IPA 2). It was taken randomly after conducting Normality and Homogeneity test. To collect the data, research used test for measuring students’ reading report text. To analysis the data, the researcher use t- test. Based on the result of the research, researcher showed the description of the data was found that the result of experimental class was higher than control class (81.91>71.87), and the score of tcount was bigger than ttable (13.38>1.678). It means that the hypothesis alternative (Ha) was accepted. It was concluded that there was the significant effect of Critical Reading Strategies on Reading Report Text at grade XI SMAN 1 Siabu.
