Abstract

The problems of this research are the students were difficult to understand the teacher's explanation in the English studying procedure, the students were low motivation in studying English and the students had been difficulty focusing throughout the teaching and studying process. The aim of the research is to analyze students’ perception on digital media used by English lecturers at the fifth semester of English Department-UIN SYAHADA Padangsidimpuan. This research was descriptive quantitative. The population of this research was all the students at the fifth semester of English Department-UIN SYAHADA Padangsidimpuan consisted of 63 students. The samples were taken from the entire population there were 63 students with the technique namely total sampling. In collecting the data, the researcher distributed the questionnaire to respondents in order to determine students’ perception on digital media used by English lecturers, which consist of 20 items. Based on overall data collected, students gave a positive response to the digital media used by English lecturers, and then the digital media platform most often used by English lecturers is Google Meet with the frequency “Strongly Agree” (70%) and the rarest frequently used by English lecturers is Quizizz with the frequency “Strongly Disagree” (27%). The implication of this research for academics is the digital media improve students learning independently and for social implication is this research recommendation for all learning materials.
